The European Commission has designated OpenAI's ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox as very large online platforms under the EU Digital Services Act. The new status requires them to remove illegal content and strengthen protections for minors' privacy and security.
Noncompliance could lead to fines of up to 6 percent of global revenue. The decision highlights Brussels' efforts to apply existing digital rules to rapidly evolving AI services.
