Crimson Desert updated: what Enhanced changed and what Charting the Unknown adds

On October 21, 2026, PlayStation published a new Charting the Unknown features video for Crimson Desert. It introduces the next major expansion rather than a new release of the entire game. Here is how the changes already delivered in Enhanced differ from the content still awaiting launch.

What has already changed

The free Enhanced update arrived on August 25, 2026 for existing owners across supported platforms. It brought together earlier updates, added story scenes and expanded language support. Calling Crimson Desert an updated game is accurate; describing this as a remake would go beyond what the developer announced.

Patch 2.00.00 also revised character progression with the Abyss Link resource, individual skill resets and eight additional abilities for Kliff. Changes to the main narrative included extra dialogue, items and memory fragments. These are improvements from an already released update, not features that players must wait for the upcoming DLC to receive.

What the new video introduces

Charting the Unknown will take the adventure beyond dry land. Its announced features include a personal ship, voyages to islands and underwater exploration of ruins and treasure. The expansion also continues the stories of Kliff, Oongka and Damiane. The ocean becomes another direction for exploration, rather than simply a fresh backdrop for familiar activities.

The official October 20 overview explains several unlock requirements. The character stories and Garden of Trials challenge require completion of the main campaign, while the ocean storyline becomes available after Howling Hill. Diving consumes breath, giving underwater equipment a practical role.

A home, relationships and businesses

Pearl Abyss also describes romance leading to marriage, house construction with customizable walls and windows, and decorating liberated castles. Business management will let players assign comrades and equipment and select goods to sell. These are announced systems; their depth and balance cannot yet be judged from promotional material.

When the expansion arrives

Following a two-week delay, launch is scheduled for October 29, 2026 at 22:00 UTC. In Kyiv, that is midnight on October 30, UTC+2. This is the revised schedule published by Pearl Abyss; the earlier October 15 date is no longer current.

The DLC is announced for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It is sold separately: receiving Enhanced for free does not automatically make Charting the Unknown free. PlayStation lists the expansion separately from the base game.

For returning players, the useful distinction is between improvements they can already access and content still being promised. The video can help identify appealing activities, but it cannot replace checking the final release notes and the access conditions for your version of the game.
