Seven years after Game of Thrones’ controversial finale, a new stage play offers a long-awaited redemption. Titled The Mad King, the production is directed by Dominic Cooke and written by Duncan Macmillan.
It unfolds during the final years of Aerys II Targaryen’s reign, including the Harrenhal tournament and the events leading to Robert’s Rebellion. The play gives fans the deeper, more satisfying prequel story they felt the original series lacked.
