Plaintiff Hides AI-Only Instructions in Court Filing, Judge Warns of Dangerous Precedent

A Connecticut judge has identified what appears to be the first U.S. case in which a plaintiff hid text in court filings that only artificial intelligence systems could read, attempting to influence the case's outcome.

The hidden instructions were invisible to humans but readable by software, directing any AI reviewing the document to agree with the plaintiff's arguments and ignore prior court denials. Judge Walter Spader Jr.

ruled that the tactic had no impact on the case, which was decided on its merits, but called the attempt a dangerous precedent as AI tools become more common in courts.
