A Connecticut judge identified what appears to be the first U.S. case in which a plaintiff hid text in court filings that only an AI system could read, attempting to influence the outcome.
The concealed instructions were invisible to human readers but legible to software, directing any AI reviewing the document to agree with the plaintiff's arguments and ignore earlier court denials. Judge Walter Spader Jr.
said the tactic had no effect on the decision, which was decided on the merits, but warned it sets a dangerous precedent as AI tools become more common in courts.
