Man Hides AI Instructions in Court Filing in Apparent First, Judge Says

A Connecticut judge has flagged what appears to be the first attempt by a US plaintiff to embed hidden text in court filings designed to be read only by AI systems. The secret instructions, invisible to humans but legible to software, told any AI reviewing the document to support the plaintiff's arguments and disregard prior court denials.

Judge Walter Spader Jr. said the text had no effect on the case, which he decided on the merits, but called the tactic a dangerous precedent as AI use in courts grows.
