Meta Ran Ads for AI App That Promoted Deepfake Porn of Female Politicians

Meta recently ran ads for Kromix, an AI-powered app that encourages users to create nonconsensual deepfake porn featuring female US politicians, violating Meta’s policies against sexual content. One ad showed a woman resembling a prominent politician winking before cutting to a pornographic scene, with a voice-over claiming the tool has "no restrictions" and that "all the characters are real people." Kromix, available on Apple’s App Store until WIRED asked for comment, invited paid users to upload photos for scenarios including "bedroom rape" and "Disney love," and also featured AI-generated porn of women in Spider-Man costumes. Meta has faced repeated failures to block ads for such tools, and Kromix did not respond to requests for comment.
