35 Years Later, Terminator 2 Remains the Near-Perfect Action Sci-Fi Movie

Science-fiction films have earned tens of billions at the box office, with eight of the top 10 highest-grossing movies of all time featuring sci-fi elements, including Marvel entries, Ne Zha 2, and the Avatar franchise. Two Avatar films currently hold the first and third spots on that list, but director James Cameron's best movie is not among them. That distinction belongs to Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which still stands as a near-perfect action sci-fi film 35 years after its release.
