Designers Isaque Seneda and Gabriel Abrucio have created ShieldFont, a typeface designed to protect webpages from AI scrapers. ShieldFont uses ligatures to swap certain words for nonsensical alternatives in the underlying HTML, while human readers see the intended text.
This lets publishers opt out of unauthorized AI training and disrupt data collection. The goal is to preserve readability for people while making scraped source code useless for AI companies.
