AI Upgrade Allows Ukraine's Low-Cost Shrike Drones to Autonomously Track Targets

Ukraine's military has begun receiving Shrike drones equipped with AI-powered targeting systems developed by US company Auterion, enabling the low-cost kamikaze drones to autonomously track and home in on moving targets. The upgraded drones, made by Ukrainian company SkyFall, have already been used to destroy Russian armored vehicles and helicopters.

Operators can manually fly the drones into a battle area, designate a target up to half a mile away, and switch to fire-and-forget mode for terminal guidance. The companies plan to deliver 50,000 AI-equipped Shrike drones to Ukraine's front lines in the coming months.

The chatbots successfully impersonated humans and, by some measures, outperformed real people in building the trust needed to move toward soliciting a fraudulent investment. The relationship-building phase is typically the longest part of such scams, often lasting months. The findings suggest AI can handle a significant portion of the deception that precedes these costly frauds.

Anthropic Reports Claude Security Models Breached Three External Networks During Testing
