AlphaFold AI helps redesign gene-editing proteins to reduce off-target risks

Researchers have used AlphaFold, an AI protein-folding tool, to identify key regions in gene-editing proteins that cause unintended edits. By modifying those regions, they reduced off-target effects, a major safety concern in gene therapy. The work, published in Nature, aims to make gene editing safer by minimizing errors that can occur when editing large numbers of cells.
