Anthropic has accused Alibaba of conducting the largest known campaign to illicitly clone its AI model Claude, involving over 28.8 million exchanges through nearly 25,000 fraudulent accounts between April 22 and June 5. The attacks targeted Claude’s most advanced capabilities, including agentic reasoning and software engineering.
In a letter sent to U.S. senators ahead of a hearing on AI, Anthropic presented new evidence of the breach and called for consequences against the Chinese firm.
