A federal judge has ruled that the Trump administration's blacklisting of AI company Anthropic was illegal, vacating government directives that barred the use of its technology. The court found that the administration unlawfully retaliated against Anthropic after the company refused to drop restrictions on using its AI for lethal autonomous warfare and mass surveillance of Americans. Judge Rita Lin of the US District Court for the Northern District of California determined the actions violated the First Amendment, granting key parts of Anthropic's summary judgment motion.
