Anthropic took down its Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models after a US government export-control directive barred foreign nationals from using the services. The models have advanced capabilities for both finding and exploiting software vulnerabilities, which the company acknowledges as a double-edged sword for cybersecurity.
Anthropic initially released a restricted preview to a select group and blocked public access to biology and cybersecurity queries. The company is still negotiating with the White House to restore the offerings.
