Anthropic issued warnings about advanced AI risks at a rate eight times higher than OpenAI this year, according to a Financial Times analysis. The analysis found that five out of every 1,000 words from Anthropic or its CEO Dario Amodei concerned risk, regulation, or restrictions, compared to just 0.6 words per 1,000 for OpenAI.
This disparity gained political significance after Washington barred foreign nationals from using Anthropic's latest models, Mythos and Fable, with some technologists blaming the ban on the company's repeated emphasis on societal risks, particularly regarding Mythos. Critics argue that Anthropic's own rhetoric may have inadvertently triggered the export restrictions.
