Anthropic's Frequent Warnings on AI Risks Linked to US Export Ban on Its Models

A Financial Times analysis found that Anthropic used risk- and regulation-related words five times per 1,000 words in official statements and posts this year, compared to just 0.6 per 1,000 for OpenAI. Critics argue that such heavy emphasis on AI dangers may have contributed to the U.S.

decision last week to ban foreign nationals from using Anthropic's latest models, Mythos and Fable. Some technologists specifically blame the company’s repeated warnings about Mythos for triggering the export restriction.
