A quantum-resistant digital signature algorithm called HAWK has been withdrawn from consideration as a US standard after Anthropic's security model, Mythos, uncovered a flaw that breaks it. HAWK had advanced to the third round of NIST's post-quantum cryptography evaluation, which was specifically designed to surface such weaknesses. Following the findings announced Monday, HAWK's developer confirmed Tuesday that he was withdrawing the algorithm from the process.
