Apple Sues OpenAI, Alleges Ex-Engineer Exploited Bug to Steal Trade Secrets

Apple has sued OpenAI, alleging that a former engineer exploited a rare bug to maintain access to confidential Apple servers for weeks after his termination. The lawsuit, filed Friday, seeks injunctions to prevent OpenAI from using the allegedly stolen trade secrets.

Apple claims that OpenAI conspired with former employees to unlawfully shortcut the development of AI-powered devices comparable to the iPhone. The bug was discovered during an investigation into internal messages between a current employee and the ex-engineer, Chang Liu, who had worked on sensitive Apple projects for eight years.
