Apple Sues OpenAI, Alleges Ex-Engineer Exploited Bug to Steal Trade Secrets

Apple filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the company of conspiring with former employees to steal trade secrets via a software bug that allowed an ex-engineer to access Apple's confidential servers for weeks after his termination. The lawsuit, filed Friday, seeks injunctions to prevent OpenAI from using the allegedly stolen information, which Apple claims was part of a scheme to shortcut the development of AI-powered devices. The bug was discovered while Apple investigated internal messages between former engineer Chang Liu and current employee Yu-Ting Peng.
