Apple Sues OpenAI Over Alleged Trade Secret Theft by Former Engineer Exploiting Bug

Apple has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging that a former engineer, Chang Liu, exploited a rare bug to maintain access to confidential Apple servers for weeks after his termination and later joined OpenAI. The complaint, filed on Friday, seeks injunctions to block OpenAI from using the stolen information, claiming OpenAI conspired with former Apple employees to shortcut the development of AI-powered devices. Apple discovered the bug while investigating internal messages between a current employee and Liu, who had worked on sensitive product development programs for eight years.
