Baldur's Gate 3 Fans Have Been Pronouncing Astarion's Surname Wrong

For years, Baldur's Gate 3 fans have known Astarion's surname is Ancunín, as seen on his gravestone, but no character ever speaks it during the game's 236-plus hours of voice acting, leaving the pronunciation to guesswork. Many fans settled on something like "an-KYU-nin." However, a clip from the upcoming tie-in audiobook Baldur's Gate 3: Astarion, read by the character's voice actor Neil Newbon, reveals the official pronunciation is closer to "an-soo-neen." Fans are now divided between accepting the newly revealed pronunciation and sticking with the version they've used since 2023.
