Bernie Sanders proposes $7 trillion public AI fund with 50% tax on top firms

Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced legislation to create a sovereign wealth fund funded by a one-time 50 percent tax on the stock of the largest AI companies. Any firm with annual AI sales exceeding $200 million would be subject to the tax.

Sanders estimates the fund could be worth $7 trillion, generating hundreds of billions of dollars annually for direct payments to Americans and social programs. Under the plan, each American would likely receive more than $1,000 per year in dividends.
