Senator Bernie Sanders unveiled a plan to create a sovereign wealth fund financed by a one-time 50 percent tax on the stock of the largest AI companies. Any AI firm with at least $200 million in annual AI sales would be subject to the tax.
Sanders estimates the fund could reach $7 trillion, generating hundreds of billions annually for direct payments to Americans and programs like healthcare, education, and housing. Each American could receive more than $1,000 in annual dividends.
