Energy companies are raising money through initial public offerings at the fastest pace this century, as investors look for ways to bet on the power-intensive AI data center boom. In the first half of this year, energy IPOs raised $12.6 billion, the highest half-year total since the dotcom bubble peak in late 1999 and a record for first-half figures.
That sum far exceeds the $4.3 billion raised in all of 2025. The surge reflects the growing bottleneck in energy supply needed to power AI data centers amid a multi-trillion-dollar investment boom.
