Enshrouded 1.0 is out: what changed and how to return

Enshrouded 1.0 went live on 15 October 2026, Keen Games confirmed in its launch announcement. The release combines new areas and building tools with changes that affect existing characters and saves.

The game combines action RPG combat with survival, construction and exploration in Embervale. Its official overview describes a handcrafted world whose terrain can be reshaped through voxel building. That combination gives the release several audiences: players following the adventure and those who spend their time designing a home.

A complete map and the next stage of progression

The release changelog opens the full map, including Cinder’s Cradle, where lava-scarred ground sits below floating islands. It also brings the current story to a conclusion and adds two Hollow Halls. HDR support arrives too. These are the headline additions for anyone waiting for more places to explore rather than another building project.

The combat overview sets the character cap at 50 and fully upgraded equipment at 55. Mages gain nine spell types, including summons; wands gain heavy attacks. Existing characters have their skill trees reset, so returning players must reassign points before heading out. This is a good moment to check a build rather than assume its previous setup remains intact.

Sparkworks gives builders something new to design

Sparkworks connects inputs, such as levers or pressure plates, to outputs such as doors and traps. A construction can therefore include player-triggered interactions. For a builder, the interesting question becomes how someone moves through a space and what happens along the way, alongside how that space looks.

Can you keep your save?

According to the launch FAQ, PC Early Access owners do not need to buy the game again. Existing saves remain usable and are converted to a new format. Starting over is optional. Cross-platform play is absent at launch; Keen Games says it is working on the feature but gives no arrival estimate. Early Access owners also receive three decorative items.

Optimisation was a launch priority

Before launch, Keen Games identified performance on lower- and mid-range PCs as a priority for 1.0. That is the developer’s stated goal; independent performance results are not available in these sources.

The 15 October hotfix addresses crashes and indoor lighting. Its notes still flag sound issues below 100% master volume, recommending volume adjustment through Windows instead. They also describe a world-edit-button problem and a temporary workaround. Check the latest patch notes before applying older troubleshooting advice.
