EU Warns Meta: Disable Autoplay and Infinite Scroll or Face Heavy Fines

The commission stated that Meta failed to properly assess the risks these features pose to the physical and mental wellbeing of users, including minors and vulnerable adults. It warned that such design elements push users into compulsive scrolling behaviors and unhealthy habits, and threatened massive fines if Meta does not make changes.
