EU Warns Meta: Disable Autoplay and Infinite Scroll or Face Massive Fines

The European Commission has preliminarily found that Meta's features such as autoplay, infinite scroll, and highly personalized content recommendations are addictive, contributing to compulsive use and unhealthy habits. The EU is now pressuring Meta to disable these features or risk substantial fines. The commission stated that Meta failed to adequately assess the risks of its addictive design on the physical and mental wellbeing of users, including minors and vulnerable adults.
