Flaw Found by Anthropic's Mythos Sidelines HAWK, a Quantum-Resistant Algorithm Candidate

The HAWK digital signature scheme, a candidate for US post-quantum cryptography standardization, has been withdrawn after a security model from Anthropic identified a flaw that breaks the algorithm. HAWK had passed two rounds of NIST's evaluation process and was undergoing a third round designed to uncover such vulnerabilities when the issue was found.

The developer announced the withdrawal on Tuesday, following Anthropic's disclosure. The discovery removes HAWK from consideration as an official standard.
