GM Adds 50 Robots at Detroit EV Plant While 1,300 Workers Remain Laid Off

General Motors has installed about 50 new robot arms at its Factory Zero electric vehicle plant in Detroit, despite 1,300 workers still being out of work since temporary layoffs in March. The robots, made by Japanese firm FANUC, assist in attaching components during assembly. United Auto Workers leaders criticized the move, arguing GM could bring back laid-off members instead of adding automation.
