GM Adds 50 Robots at Flagship EV Plant While 1,300 Workers Remain Laid Off

General Motors has installed about 50 robot arms at its Factory Zero electric vehicle plant in Detroit, even as 1,300 workers laid off in March have not been recalled. The robots, made by Japanese firm FANUC, are used to attach components on the assembly line. United Auto Workers leaders condemned the move, with union officials stating that the company could bring back more than 1,000 laid-off members instead of deploying the robots.
