GM Installs 50 Robots at Detroit EV Plant as Over 1,000 Workers Remain Laid Off

General Motors has installed about 50 robot arms made by FANUC at its Factory Zero electric vehicle plant in Detroit to assist with assembly. The move has angered the United Auto Workers union because more than 1,000 workers are still on indefinite layoff after what were supposed to be temporary layoffs in March. A union local president said the company could bring back some of those workers instead of deploying the robots.
