General Motors has installed about 50 robot arms at its Factory Zero electric vehicle plant in Detroit, built by Japanese robotics firm FANUC, to assist with assembling components. The move comes as 1,300 workers who were temporarily laid off in March have not been called back, angering union leaders. United Auto Workers Local 22 President James Cotton stated that over 1,000 union members remain indefinitely laid off and that GM could recall workers instead of deploying the robots.
