Google has filed a lawsuit against Outsider Enterprise, a Chinese cybercrime network accused of using its Gemini AI to automate phishing scams. The group allegedly offered phishing-as-a-service via Telegram, using Gemini to create fake websites mimicking Google, YouTube, and government agencies.
The campaign resulted in over 2.5 million scam text messages sent to Android users, with 55,000 in a two-week period last month. Google is coordinating with law enforcement and mobile carriers to dismantle the network.
