Google has filed a lawsuit against a Chinese cybercrime group known as Outsider Enterprise, which allegedly operated a massive phishing-as-a-service scheme via Telegram. The group reportedly used Google's Gemini AI to create fraudulent websites mimicking Google, YouTube, and government agencies like New York's E-ZPass, offering nearly 300 scam templates.
According to Google, the scams generated over 2.5 million text messages to Android users, with about 55,000 sent in a two-week period last month, and the company has tracked 9,000 fake websites and 1 million related URLs. Google is collaborating with law enforcement and mobile carriers to combat the network.
