After a long wait, Google's new smart home speaker, the Google Home Speaker, is finally set to launch on June 25th. Available for preorder today at $100, the device marks Google's first new smart home audio product in six years.

With its small and round design covered in partially recycled fabric, it offers 360-degree sound for a uniform listening experience. The speaker also features a light ring around the bottom that glows when listening, thinking, or responding.

This is part of a trend of Google incorporating glowing lightbars into their products, such as upcoming Googlebooks laptops. The device boasts far-field microphones and a mute switch.

Autonomous Firefighting Drones Tested as Wildfire Season Extends Year-Round in US

Firefighting drones capable of spraying water and fire retardant are being tested in California and Alaska as climate change makes wildfire season a near-year-round threat across much of the United States.
