Google DeepMind has introduced Nano Banana 2 Lite, also known as Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image, a new image generation model that balances quality, speed, and cost. It is now available across the Google ecosystem, creating images in a fraction of the time required by Google's more powerful models.
While ideal for rapid prototyping and exploring ideas, the model has limitations with small text, infographics, and maintaining consistent character appearances across iterations. User ratings from Arena.ai show that outputs from Nano Banana 2 Lite are rated nearly as highly as those from the non-Lite versions.
