Google DeepMind has released Nano Banana 2 Lite, a new image generation model that offers the best balance of quality and speed. Part of the Gemini 3.1 family and also known as Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image, it creates images much faster than Google's larger models and is now available across the Google ecosystem.
The model is ideal for rapid prototyping where speed matters, but user ratings from Arena.ai show its outputs are nearly as high-quality as the non-Lite versions. However, it struggles with small text, infographics, and maintaining consistent characters across iterations.
