Google DeepMind has unveiled Nano Banana 2 Lite, an AI image-generation model that prioritizes speed and affordability without sacrificing too much quality. Officially part of the Gemini 3.1 family as Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image, it creates images in a fraction of the time required by Google’s more powerful models and is now available across the Google ecosystem. While ideal for rapid prototyping and idea exploration, the model struggles with fine text, infographic accuracy, and maintaining consistent character appearances across multiple iterations.
