Google has confirmed that it will shut down Google Assistant on Android devices starting September 4, with the transition to Gemini expected to take several weeks to complete. The company had originally planned to retire Assistant earlier, but delayed the move until Gemini was ready.
This change will also affect connected devices such as smartwatches, headphones, and Android Auto, which will all be moved to Gemini. Most of Google's smart home devices have already made the switch.
