Google Sues Chinese Cybercrime Network for Using Gemini AI to Automate Scams

Google has filed a lawsuit against a Chinese cybercrime group called Outsider Enterprise, which allegedly used its Gemini AI to automate phishing scams. The group operated on Telegram, offering phishing-as-a-service with nearly 300 scam templates, including fake Google, YouTube, and government sites. According to Google, the operation sent over 2.5 million text messages to Android users, with 55,000 in a two-week period last month, and involved 9,000 fake websites and 1 million linked URLs. Google is collaborating with law enforcement and mobile carriers to combat the network.
