Google has confirmed it will end Assistant support on Android devices starting September 4, with the transition to Gemini expected to take several weeks. The company had initially planned to retire Assistant in late 2025 but delayed the shutdown to improve Gemini.
Users who have not yet switched will be forced onto Gemini, while those who already made the change will see no difference. The shutdown also affects connected gadgets like smartwatches, headphones, and Android Auto, as most smart home devices have already moved to Gemini.
