Google Unveils Gemini Robotics 2.0, Boosting Robot Dexterity and Safety

Google has introduced Gemini Robotics 2, a major upgrade to its AI-powered robotics system, enabling robots to handle more complex tasks, adapt to changing environments, and work alongside other robots. The release includes a trio of new sub-models, with one available to developers starting today.

The advancement marks a step toward general-purpose robots, or what DeepMind calls “physical AGI,” allowing humanoid robots to use improved dexterity, including with complex humanoid hands. Central to the update is the enhanced Gemini Robotics ER 2 “embodied reasoning” model, integrated with the Gemini Live API.
