Humanoid Robots at Hyundai Trigger Union Workers' Strike

Thousands of unionized Hyundai auto workers in Ulsan, South Korea, have begun striking after negotiations broke down over plans to deploy humanoid robots. The partial strike, the first factory stoppage in the car industry to address humanoid robots, includes early shift closures and planned four-hour strikes. The dispute began when Hyundai unveiled the Atlas humanoid robot, a 6-foot-tall, 100-pound lifting robot from Boston Dynamics, which Hyundai is acquiring as a wholly owned subsidiary.
