Meta Ran Ads for AI App That Promoted Deepfaked Nudes of Female Politicians

Meta recently ran ads for an AI porn-generation tool called Kromix that appeared to encourage users to create deepfake videos resembling female US politicians, despite Meta's policies against sexual ad content. One ad showed a woman resembling a prominent female politician in front of US flags, with the caption "What if she moved?" before cutting to a pornographic scene, while a voice-over claimed the tool had "no restrictions" and "all the characters are real people." The app, which had been hosted by Apple's App Store before WIRED sought comment, invited paying users to upload photos for scenarios including "bedroom rape" and "Disney love" and included AI-generated porn of women in Spider-Man costumes. Requests for comment sent to the app's contact went unanswered.
