Meta Ran Ads for AI App That Targeted Female Politicians with Deepfake Porn

Meta Platforms recently ran advertisements for an AI tool called Kromix that appeared to encourage users to create deepfake pornographic videos resembling female US politicians, despite Meta’s rules against sexual content in ads. The app, described as an “AI image styler,” promoted itself with claims of “no restrictions” and that “all the characters are real people.” Kromix, which was available on Apple’s App Store until WIRED asked about it, invited paid users to upload photos for scenarios such as “bedroom rape” and “Disney love.” Requests for comment from the app’s listed contact went unanswered.
