Modern Warfare 4 Season 1: what to expect on November 6

Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 begins on November 6. It is the next stage after the game’s release, rather than a second launch: the focus shifts to online modes and Warzone integration. Activision’s October 28 announcements distinguish the opening content from additions planned for mid-season.

When does Season 1 start?

The announced launch time is midnight Eastern on November 6, equivalent to 07:00 in Kyiv. The announcement date and the playable update date are separate. Mid-season is another stage of the roadmap, so the complete list of additions should not be treated as a day-one promise.

Multiplayer: where to begin

The opening maps are Backstab, Canyon and a reworked Shoot House, alongside the returning Grind and Drop Zone modes. Ministry, Overflow and Counter Attack are scheduled for mid-season.

Our editorial takeaway is to judge the update against the kind of match you enjoy. Arenas change routes and engagement distances; team objectives can reward different decisions from simply chasing eliminations. That is not a verdict on balance. Before release, there is no sound basis for promising that a particular map will become the best place to progress or compete.

DMZ and Warzone

X01 is the announced DMZ location. Warzone is getting Hajin and Zodiac, with a separate detailed roadmap due on November 2. Until that arrives, the announcement should not be expanded into guesses about every playlist.

A squad can use the wait to agree on its first priority: exploring a location, tackling objectives or progressing through the season. That is more practical than trying every mode in a single evening. A meaningful assessment of DMZ’s pacing will require playing the update, not just watching its trailer.

Separate the update from paid extras

The Battle Pass mixes free and premium tiers. A catch-up system is announced for the premium component, but that does not make the whole pass free. The Vault Edition includes BlackCell for one season, not permanent access to future seasons.

Our advice is to check the edition you already own and the pass contents in your platform’s store before spending. An update arriving is not, by itself, a reason to upgrade editions. Likewise, rewards shown in promotional artwork should not all be assumed to belong to the base game.

A Warzone carry-forward detail worth checking

The legacy Operator Skin filter affects Warzone and only your view; it does not replace your own equipped Operator. Activision also corrected its initial carry-forward description: legacy weapon camos are not included. This is context from a September article, not a newly announced October 28 feature.

What comes next?

The next checkpoint is the detailed Warzone information on November 2. After that, compare the eventual patch notes with the announcement. A seasonal roadmap explains intentions, but it cannot substitute for checking server behaviour, performance and balance once the update is live.
