Notion Shuts Down Its AI-Powered Email Client, Citing Shift to AI Agents

Notion has announced the shutdown of Notion Mail, its email client built by former Skiff employees following the February 2024 acquisition of the encrypted email startup. The service will be discontinued across web, desktop, and iOS on September 22.

In a post on X, the company explained that most users now rely on AI agents to handle their email rather than traditional clients. This marks the end of the remaining Skiff-derived email functionality, after Skiff's own service was shut down within a year of the acquisition.
