Notion Shuts Down Its Email App, Citing Shift to AI Agents

Notion acquired encrypted email startup Skiff in February 2024, shut down Skiff’s email service within a year, and launched Notion Mail—a Gmail client built by former Skiff employees—in April 2025. The company announced today that Notion Mail will be discontinued on September 22, 2026, effectively ending the remaining Skiff email functionality. In an announcement on X, Notion explained that most users no longer rely on email clients and instead depend on AI agents to handle their correspondence.
