Notion to Shut Down Notion Mail, Citing Shift to AI Agents for Email Management

Notion acquired encrypted email startup Skiff in February 2024 and shut down its email service within a year. In April 2025, the company launched Notion Mail, a Gmail client built largely by former Skiff employees.

Now, Notion has announced it will shut down Notion Mail on September 22, 2026, stating that most users no longer use email clients and instead rely on AI agents to handle correspondence. The move effectively ends the remnants of Skiff's email technology.
