Notion to shut down Skiff-based email client, citing user shift to AI agents

Notion acquired encrypted email startup Skiff in February 2024 and later shut down Skiff’s email service. In April 2025, the company launched Notion Mail, a Gmail client built largely by former Skiff employees. Now, Notion has announced it will shut down Notion Mail on September 22, explaining that most users rely on AI agents rather than traditional email clients.
